Actor faced 'biggest physical demand ever'
Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that he went to extreme measures to bulk up for new movie Star Trek Into Darkness.
The actor, best known for his role in hit TV drama Sherlock, admits he found it tough getting into shape for his role as villain John Harrison.
‘It was the first time I’d really intensely shape-shifted,’ Benedict tells SFX Magazine.
‘To go up from a 38 chest to a 42, I was eating 4,000 calories a day and training two hours a day, as well as stunt rehearsals and fight choreography.’
Benedict, 36, says the regime was the most punishing he’s experienced.
‘It was the most physical demand that’s ever been made of me for the screen,’ the actor admits.
