The comedian and DJ having chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment
Danny Baker has revealed he has cancer.
The Radio 5 Live host made his battle with the illness public yesterday on Twitter and Facebook as he wanted listeners to know why he had been absent from his regular Saturday radio show.
‘Hello cats and kittens. I really ought to offer up some sort of breadcrumbs trail as to what’s going on,‘ Danny said in his statement.
‘After a pretty mouldy diagnosis about a month back, I finally begin chemotherapy on Monday with further radiotherapy from January.’
The upbeat presenter, who thanked his fans for their support and best wishes, insisted he will be back on form soon ‘once the quacks have soundly thrashed this thing’.
Danny, 53, presents a weekend show – The Danny Baker Show – on 5 Live, as well as a daily radio slot on BBC London.
His manager, who has not revealed what kind of cancer Danny has, says: ‘Danny’s in great spirits. He’s doing everything the doctors are asking him to. He’s being a good boy.’
