Royal has riding accident in France
Zara Phillips was rushed to hospital on Saturday after falling off her horse.
The Queen’s granddaughter was taking part in the Pau International Horse Trials in France when the accident took place.
Spectators were said to be horrifed as Zara and her horse Tsunami II crashed to the ground after stumbling at the 15th jump on the cross-country race.
After being treated by doctors, the 27-year-old was told the devastating news that the 10-year-old mare had an untreatable fracture of the spine.
‘Zara broke her collar bone. She was taken to hospital and strapped up, but didn’t have to stay in overnight,’ her spokesman tells the Sunday Mirror.
‘She’s on her way back to the UK today. Sadly her horse had to be put down after X-rays revealed she had a broken back. Zara is very upset.’
