It happens to the best of us, Simon Cowell...
Simon Cowell spoke out honestly about his angry reaction to being assigned the Overs on the X Factor, during an appearance on today’s This Morning show. Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Ben Shephard, the X Factor judge said: ‘I was a bit sulky when I got this category. I get sulky.’ Oh Simon, don’t we all!
Simon upset his ‘Overs’ contestants when he swore aggressively on the show after he realised he had been chosen to mentor their category: “Oh, for f**k’s sake – are you winding me up?” He later apologised on his personal Twitter account: ‘Sorry for swearing on the show tonight. It’s not big and it’s not clever.’
And now, speaking on This Morning, Simon seems to have a newly-optimistic attitude: ‘What I have to do now is prove I’ve got three brilliant singers and we’re going to bring a winning attitude next week. It’s about finding a star.’
He also posted a positive tweet yesterday after watching his mentees rehearse:
This year, the Overs category includes Anton Stephans, Bupshi Brown and Max Stone. Simon infamously fell out with Max two weeks ago when he said he looked ‘half dead’ during his performance, adding ‘no one will like you.’ GULP. We hope Simon’s change in attitude allows to the pair to get on better in the coming weeks.
During the This Morning interview, Simon also shed light on his decision to bring Maison Noise back on to the show: ‘I said to him he was out of order and made my point, but when we made it up, he was a man, he was apologetic and if Nick backs him, you know, it was the right decision and the public are going to decide.’ Maison Noise now joins the Boys’ category, under the mentorship of Nick Grimshaw.
Whatever happens with the competition, we’re glad to see Simon is feeling better about his category. We can’t wait to see who wins the X Factor title!
