Arg has travelled overseas to get help for his overeating and partying

TOWIE star, James ‘Arg’ Argent has had a pretty public battle with addiction over the past few years.

The 29-year-old was admitted to rehab three years ago for alleged drink and drugs abuse and has spoken out about struggling to keep his weight down time and time again.

But after fans started noticing that Arg wasn’t hanging out with his reality pals for the latest series of The Only Way Is Essex, it’s now been revealed that the star has been checked into rehab… this time in Thailand.

An insider said: ‘He’s been very courageous in that he’s actually taken the step himself to seek out help this time, and he’s taken the decision alone.

‘He really struggles with discipline. He struggles to keep his weight down, he gets really tired, then goes partying, drinks a lot and over eats.

‘He gets into this cycle of depression. He doesn’t want to keep leaning on other people – he wants to sort things out for himself, so he’s getting the best possible help right now.’

Good work, Arg!

Despite his absence from the recent TOWIE Christmas special, luckily this isn’t the last we’re going to see of Arg on the ITVBe show as producers are reportedly keeping the door open for him to make a comeback as soon as he feels ready.

Arg and Lydia were inseparable before their split in May 2016

Arg, who recently scored a date on Take Me Out, previously spent his 27th birthday at the celeb self-help retreat The Priory where he managed to lose a stone and a half during his stint.

Impressive, right?

Back in February 2015 he opened up about his time away from the limelight, admitting: ‘Underneath everything I was badly depressed. I was anxious and tired.

‘My dad drove me. It took an hour and a half to get there. I didn’t want my dad to see me cry but as soon as he left I just sobbed because I knew I had done this to myself.’

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse for Mark Wright‘s best pal as he split from long-term girlfriend and co-star Lydia Bright in May last year when she reportedly found him ‘out of it’ after a drugs relapse.

Hopefully Arg can get things sorted this time around and we’ll see him back on our screens soon!
