Singer rumoured to be mocking ex in new video
Taylor Swift hit the headlines in February after she put on a British accent during her performance of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together at the Grammys, with many speculating that it was a dig at her ex Harry Styles.
And when the singer donned a beanie hat – a fashion favourite of Harry, 19 – for the video of new single 22, it seemed obvious that Taylor was mocking the One Direction heartthrob.
Even though she’s keeping quiet on the specifics, Taylor admits to occasionally making jibes at former boyfriends.
I just like to wear a hat sometimes,’ says Taylor, 23.
I mean, sometimes I do things symbolically, as a dig. Other times, I’m just wearing a hat.’
The songstress – who split from Harry in January after a whirlwind 65-day romance – doesn’t feel that she has to explain herself or elaborate on her song lyrics.
I mean, here’s the thing: not everything has to be explained to death, you know?’ Taylor tells The Times Magazine.
And the I Knew You Were Trouble singer defends her decision to share such personal experiences through her music, saying: If I’m not putting their first and last name in the song, then it could be about anything.
And it’s helping people deal with emotions, maybe if they hear a song about it, they won’t go crazy on their ex.’
