Great-grandmother waits for news

The Queen has revealed that she’s keen for the royal baby to arrive as soon as possible.

The great-grandmother-to-be wants pregnant Kate Middleton, 31, to give birth before she goes on her summer holiday to Balmoral, Scotland at the end of next week.

She made the comments during a visit to Lake Windermere in Cumbria after schoolgirl Fay Batey, 10, asked her if she’d like the baby to be a boy or a girl.

I don’t think I mind,’ the Queen, 87, told her.

I would very much like it to arrive. I’m going on holiday.’

The crowd laughed at Her Majesty’s honest answer.

Kate’s due date was believed to be 13 July but there’s still no sign of the new arrival.

Earlier this week Camilla Parker Bowles let slip that she hoped the baby would be here ‘by the end of the week’.

In the meantime Kate and hubby Prince William, 31, are staying at her parents’ house in Berkshire.
