Crooks said to have wanted wedding rings

Burglars attempted to break in to Cheryl Cole and husband Ashley‘s £3.5million home yesterday.

Thieves tried to gain entry to the Surrey property while the Chelsea footballer, 29, was inside.

It is thought the crooks were targeting Cheryl‘s two wedding rings.

The X Factor judge, 26, was snapped flying to LA this week from Heathrow without the bands.

Ashley bought her a £150,000 heart-shaped rock for their 2006 wedding.

And he gave her a second £160,000 square-cut sparkler two years later.

Police are investigating the attempted break-in and were seen carrying out forensic tests yesterday.

‘We can confirm officers were called to a house in Surrey at around 4.30am yesterday morning following reports of an attempted break in,’ reads a statement. ‘Investigations are ongoing.’
