Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren ask for privacy during difficult time
Tiger Woods and wife Elin Nordegren have been granted a divorce following his infidelity.
The couple were both present at Bay County Circuit Court in Florida yesterday as their marriage was dissolved.
‘We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future,’ reads a joint statement on the golfer’s website.
Tiger and Elin – who tied the knot in October 2004 in Barbados – will share custody of their children Sam, 3, and Charlie, 19 months.
‘Once we came to the decision that our marriage was at an end, the primary focus of our amicable discussions has been to ensure their future well-being,’ reads the statement.
‘The weeks and months ahead will not be easy for them as we adjust to a new family situation, which is why our privacy must be a principal concern.’
In February, Tiger, 34, publicly apologised and admitted he’d cheated on Elin with a string of women.
Although details of the financial settlement have not been disclosed, US reports claim the 30-year-old will receive over $100million (£64.4million).
