The Essex lad was a little caught off-guard

We’re not used to seeing James Lock without his army of TOWIE lads in tow – but on Friday morning (3rd March) the reality star dropped by the Good Morning Britain studios on his own to talk about his latest charity project.

But as well as chatting about the new series of The Only Way Is Essex and his venture to rehabilitate prisoners through food – the usually unflappable Essex lad looked a little bit uncomfortable when he was grilled about something else.

Hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard seemed to take the 30-year-old completely off guard when the conversation turned to a piece of footage showing the reality TV star appearing to use his phone whilst driving.

The clip, which GMB found while conducting an investigation into the new laws about using a phone while on the road, shows James at the wheel taking a Snapchat video.

When asked how he felt about it, a shocked James dealt with the unexpected question pretty well and went on to issue an apology for his actions, telling ITV viewers: ‘Do you know something? Anyone using a mobile phone at the wheel is very silly.’

The star, who previously dated Danielle Armstrong, then went on: ‘But in my defence I was actually filming that on private land.

‘It was a safe area and there was no one about but still having said that, in my position, people watch that and it’s very silly. It’s not a good look and for that I apologise.

Everything we do is influential and it’s reminded me that I’m in the public eye and you can’t be doing that can you? From now on I’ll be a lot more vigilant.’

But despite James’ calm response, some viewers weren’t too impressed with the morning telly show’s tactic of catching him off-guard and took to Twitter in full-force to support the star…

James is now happily dating 23-year-old Yazmin Oukhellou and also opened up about his relationship and bringing a new lady onto the popular ITVBe show, explaining: ‘We had a chat and it was her choice, and she said for the sake of me and her she’s give it a go. And she’s come on and she’s like a fish in water, she’s doing really well.’

Well we can’t WAIT to see the new series.
