Little George stole the show at Trooping the Colour yesterday, wearing a matching outfit to one his dad wore as a kid
The world was quick to spot that Prince George wore an almost identical romper yesterday to the one his dad Prince William wore when he was the same age at the same event.
But it’s not the first time Kate Middleton appears to have paid tribute to Wills’ late mother Princess Diana by dressing George in a similar outfit to one her husband wore when he was little.
Prince George stole the show at Trooping the Colour yesterday in his cute light blue romper suit – effortlessly getting through his first baloncy appearance at the tender age of 23 months.
Prince William was similarly enchanting when, aged two, he was held by dad Prince Charles at the same event to mark the Queen’s official birthday in 1984.
And it’s clear that’s not the only similarity George has with his dad. In the first adorable pictures Kate Middleton, 33, and Prince William, 32, released of Prince George and Princess Charlotte together, the little toddler was also dressed just like his dad was when he was a kid.
In fact George – who turns two next month – sported a near identical shirt and blue shorts to those worn by Wills when he attended the christening of baby Harry in 1984.
And given that they both have their blond locks neatly swept over to the side, the resemblance between father and son is quite uncanny.
It’s not just George whose get-ups give a nod to dad William’s childhood though. Little Charlotte’s outfit in the official photos was very similar to one worn by Prince Harry in an old picture of him as a baby.
The retro snap shows Harry, now 30, wearing a snuggly white costume just like Charlotte’s as he is cradled by mum Diana.
Kate appears to be making a subtle and touching tribute to Wills’ beloved mum Princess Diana, who tragically died in a car crash before ever meeting her grandchildren.
Daughter Charlotte, who was born last month, was also given the middle name ‘Diana’ in honour of the late Princess.
