Robert Pattinson up for Performance Of The Year

Twilight was the big winner at last night’s National Movie Awards – scooping 3 gongs.

Robert Pattinson, 24, who did not attend, took home the Performance Of The Year prize.

‘It means a lot to me because you the fans decided the winner. Thanks for voting for me,’ he said in a video message.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon triumphed in the Fantasy category while forthcoming sequel Eclipse was Most Anticipated Movie Of The Summer.

Tom Cruise, 47, who attended with wife Katie Holmes, received the Screen Icon trophy.

‘It’s a real honour for me to be here tonight,’ he said.

‘I guess as a film maker the most important thing to me is you. If I have entertained you at all, I thank you. Thank you for allowing me to do so.’

Other winners included the Harry Potter franchise, which got gongs in the Special Recognition and Family categories.

James Nesbitt hosted the ceremony, held at London’s Royal Festival Hall

Guests included Kylie Minogue, Gwyneth Paltrow, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Diane Kruger, James Corden and Simon Pegg.
