Actress gets emotional at New York event

Brooke Shields fought back tears as she shared memories of pal Natasha Richardson last night.

The Lipstick Jungle star was attending a gala in New York that paid tribute to the late actress and her favourite AIDS charity AmfAR.

She deserves every honour,’ an emotional Brooke, 44, told the Associated Press on the red carpet.

She was a lovely human being, a beautiful woman, a wonderful wife and a brilliant mother.

‘I wish we didn’t have to do this tonight.’

Natasha, 45, died in March after suffering a fatal head injury while skiing in Canada.

Other stars at the event included her mum Vanessa Redgrave, 73, sister Joely, 44, Heidi Klum, Lady Gaga, Sigourney Weaver and Meryl Streep, who sang an Irish song.

Natasha is survived by husband Liam Neeson,
56, and their sons Michael, 14, and Daniel, 13.
