TOWIE’s Ferne McCann, 24, and Grace Andrews, 22, on why they want to continue to help children’s hospices

TOWIE stars Ferne McCann and Grace Andrews joined Now last week to do something truly special – helping build a magical garden for the kids at Little Havens children’s hospice in Essex.

Joining up with Team Now and UK charity Greenfingers, the girls kicked off their heels and got their perfectly manicured nails dirty to paint a trellis and circus-themed gazebo.

When a family’s been told that there’s no cure for their child’s illness, Little Havens helps by offering respite and care for babies, children and teens. Families can have fun together while staff look after the medical side of things.

What have you learnt from being at the hospice today?

Ferne: I’ve just had a tour with Ellie [a 14-year-old with a neuromuscular condition] who’s spent seven years coming here. I didn’t realise the kids can come back here for many years. I think that’s important cos the nurses and care team still get to see everyone – it’s like one big family.

My mum once ran the London Marathon for this hospice, so it’s nice to see where the money goes. The facilities are brilliant: Ellie has amazing nails! Some of the rooms are like hotel rooms.

Has it been emotional?

F: Yes, it can obviously be upsetting. It reminds you how lucky you are to have your health. But you have to keep positive and this is a really fun, happy place.

G: It’s been emotional seeing all the children but they’re so happy to be out here in the garden with their families. It’s great to see everyone get involved and make a difference.

Has it inspired you to do more?

F: Definitely. Volunteering is easier than you think – you can give an hour, a day, just anything to raise awareness and help others.

G: Today’s been really inspiring. I’m proud to have been involved and want to do more.
FERNE & GRACE SAY: ‘Us TOWIE girls took our heels off and got covered in paint for charity. Now we want you to help, too. Go to or text NOWG50 and the amount you’d like to give (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070.’

Texts are free to send. Please check with the phone’s bill payer before donating.
