Caroline Flack says she would 'absolutely' return to host The X Factor with Olly Murs - as rumours swirl that Emma Willis & Rylan Clark are being lined up as their replacements

She’s had a pretty rough ride as co-host of this year’s series of The X Factor, but Caroline Flack has said she would ‘absolutely’ return to present the show alongside Olly Murs, claiming: ‘We did the best job we could.’

But, with rumours swirling that Emma Willis and Rylan Clark are being lined-up to replace the pair on next year’s show, will their best be good enough?

Caroline – who has suffered online abuse for her appearance over the course of the series – made the claim as she chatted to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV breakfast show on Friday morning.

Asked whether her and Olly – who has also been criticised for a string of blunders, including announcing Monica Michaels‘ departure early – would come back for the next series were they given the chance, Caroline said: ‘Oh absolutely!

‘I mean, we don’t know yet. Do you know what? I just want to finish on a high. That’s what we want to do. We’ve got this weekend to really finish on that high note and finish going, ‘we did the best job we could’ and that’s the aim at the minute.’

But her comments come on the same day that reports suggest Simon Cowell is keen to poach Big Brother duo Emma and Rylan for next year’s show to replace Caz and Ol.

A source told the Daily Star: ‘It would cause fireworks poaching Emma and Rylan off Big Brother but Simon usually gets what he wants.’

They added: ‘He nicked Alesha Dixon off Strictly to be a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and Rita Ora from The Voice for The X Factor.’

However, an X Factor spokesperson told the Mirror ‘we haven’t even started discussing next year’s series,’ so the rumours may stay as just that.

But, whilst their X Factor fate remains to be revealed, Caroline went on to claim that co-hosting the show has bought her and Olly even closer.

She said: ‘We’ve always got on really well, but for some reason I didn’t think it was possible to get any closer. But this series we’ve become so close, we’ve kind of had to stick by each other and we are just friends but there’s this innate understanding between us which I’ve never had with anyone.’

She also addressed THAT gaffe by Mr Murs, saying: ‘Bless him. How many times did he apologise? I actually had lunch with Dermot [O’Leary] the other day and he was just like, ‘I really felt for him’ because we all know what happens, these things do happen.’
