Ahead of the hotly-anticipated TV cameo of the year, George Clooney and the Downton Abbey cast cosy up for a hilarious selfie for Text Santa
The fun snap shows the Ocean’s Eleven actor alongside the Highclere Castle family and staff cheerily smiling into a phone, held by Phyllis Logan’s character, Mrs Hughes.
Despite selfies only becoming a recent phenomenon (mobile phones were created in 1973!) the upper class elite seem at ease posing for their cheeky snap alongside the Hollywood heartthrob.
In the picture, Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), Carson (Jim Carter) and Tom Branson (Allen Leech) are seen overjoyed as they lean into the image. Meanwhile Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier), Molesley (Kevin Doyle) and Lady Rose (Lily James) unsuccessfully attempt to squeeze in at the back – we don’t blame them!
Fans of the hit ITV period drama were ecstatic when they found out the 53-year-old would be appearing in a one-off special skit on the ITV’s Text Santa appeal on tonight’s telethon.
George, who recently tied the know with British lawyer and fashionista Amal Alamuddin, reportedly got involved with the show after becoming friends with his Monuments of Men co-star, Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Robert Crawley.
Smitten with the silver fox, Lady Edith Crawley (Laura Carmichael) couldn’t contain her excitement at acting alongside the hot star.
She said: ‘He’s completely gorgeous but also an incredible talent. His career is incredible. He’s a very kind and brilliant man.’
Sadly for Edith, George has his eyes on another lucky lady in the show… none other than the Dowager Countess played by Dame Maggie Smith!
Laura said: ‘George plants a kiss and Maggie ends up on the floor, it’s wonderful. He was hilarious.’
