The Duchess could choose a regal name or something more modern

Kate Middleton and Prince William have just days to go before their baby is born.

Everything is in place – her wing at the hospital, a system for announcing the news, including on Twitter – but a name has still not been chosen.

While it is unlikely the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 31, will go for anything too outlandish, there are a limited number of regal names they could choose from.

If the baby is a boy, they could choose from Henry or Edward. There have been eight King Henrys and eight Edwards already in England, though of course Wills might choose to name him after his father Charles, which is also Prince Harry‘s middle name.

Of girls’ names, Elizabeth and Victoria have both been previous Queens’ names in this country, but more unusual choices might be Zara (after the only daughter of Princess Royal Anne, not the clothes store beloved of Kate).

Of course, Kate could decide to name the baby girl after her sister, Pippa

Whatever they choose, we will find out very soon indeed.
