Whilst the rest of the internet was freaking out about the all-new Top Gear team, Katie Hopkins had a controversial question
Katie Hopkins was back to her blunt-tweeting ways today, and this time it was the new Top Gear presenting team that was her target.
Following this morning’s unveiling of the BBC show’s all-new line up – which sees racing driver Sabine Schmitz, YouTube star Chris Harris, motoring journalist Rory Reid and Formula 1 boss Eddie Jordan joining already-confirmed stars Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc – the professional motormouth took to Twitter.
‘Token-tastic. Where’s the disabled one?’ she posted.
One user responded with ‘Think it’s the one in the white suit,’ referencing the show’s mysterious racing driver, The Stig.
Katie then tweeted back with a dig at Chris Evans, asking ‘Is being ginger officially a disability?’
Some users clearly agreed with Katie’s point, with one writing: ‘Clearly somebody at the BBC has done their diversity training! #TopGear #NewTopGear’
But others were pleased with the diverse nature of the line-up, posting: ‘At least there’s 1 woman and a black man in the show: all with good car knowledge. Been a boys game for too long that #TopGear.’
Chris and co will be hosting the new Top Gear when it relaunches this summer, taking over from old hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.
The Radio 2 Breakfast Show host announced the new line-up on Thursday morning, posting a photo of the team on Twitter with the caption: ‘Morning from the new Top Gear team. All present and correct and smelling of eau de petrol.’
Grumpy Jeremy was sacked by the BBC following that bust-up with a producer in a hotel last March, with James and Richard quitting the show soon afterwards in a show soon afterwards.
We don’t know about you (or Katie), but we’re VERY excited about the new series.
