Rumours that presenter faces chop from fourth series

It’s claimed that X Factor bosses have approached top showbiz agents and are considering retiring presenter Kate Thornton.

Fearne Cotton and Dermot O’Leary are two of the names it’s said are being banded about to replace the 33-year old in the next series.

The show currently pulls in around 10 million viewers. A source told The Sun: ‘X Factor is one of Britain’s top rated shows and bosses are constantly looking to revamp the format.

‘Kate is a lovely girl but the feeling is they want to send the fourth series show into the stratosphere.’

Last night an X Factor spokeswoman said: ‘Kate is a fantastic presenter and we’re in the middle of an incredibly sucessful third series. Her talent in running a major live studio show is unprecedented and we look forward to continue to work with her.’
