Love behind the scenes...

Who knew that while also giving tuneful wannabes a chance at chart success, The X Factor would be a source of romance?

For a number of weeks, rumours have been running rife regarding two contestants in a same-sex relationship behind-the-scenes. Though it’s not the first time that love has blossomed between those in a high-pressured, TV environment, a lot of the time the romances don’t last for more than a month after the show. (Remember Stephen Bear and Chloe Khan‘s love affair on Celebrity Big Brother? Nor do we…)

However, the X Factor couple seem determined to not be another fling, as sources say that they’re still very much an item – but won’t reveal their love until they’re both ready.

It has been reported that the two finalists met during the Judges’ Houses stage, and began officially dating during the start of the Live Rounds in October. Despite the fact that they’ve chosen to be very private about their connection, it’s apparently going very well, and there was an instant attraction.

‘When the pair locked eyes on each other they completely fell head over heels…’ a show insider reported to The Mirror.

‘They are together but don’t want it to come out until they are ready.’

When Matt Terry won the competition last Sunday, some viewers were hopeful that he was half of the mysterious couple, as fellow finalist Freddy Parker appeared to give him a congratulatory kiss.

No love story here, people – just friends!

However, Matt was quick to deny any romance, and instead sees him as a ‘little brother’ – can’t get deeper in the ‘friend zone’ than that!

‘They don’t want it to wreck their image as they still have commitments, despite the show finishing,’ the source added.

‘It’s well known that Simon Cowell signs all finalists and they don’t want to jeopardise this. It’s the real deal for the pair and is getting serious.’

We sincerely hope that’s not the case…it’s 2016, people! Whether the couple chooses to reveal their love to the world, we wish them every success – who doesn’t love a good love story?
