Scottish teen joins five other finalists in Cheryl Cole's girls category on The X Factor

Well, that was tense wasn’t it?

After much booing and fretting, Cheryl Cole has now chosen her final six girls to take through to the judges’ houses stage of The X Factor and by far the most talented singer in her group is 15 year old Emily Middlemas.

The teenager blew all four judges away with her joyful rendition of Ellie Goulding‘s hit Anything Could Happen (heck, she even got Louis Walsh busting some moves).

Before she was picked the Scot said: ‘I am the youngest girl in the competition and it’s pretty nerve wracking.’

Too right it is. Do you remember what YOU were doing when you were 15? Stressing about whether the hot boy in your biology class fancied you? Worrying about whether you’d get good GCSE results? Yeah, us too.

Our 15-year-old self would pee our pants just at the very thought of singing in front of 10 million viewers.

Thankfully, Emily has some experience of singing competitions. Even at her tender age she has already won Teenstar – the UK’s biggest singing competition, beating 9,000 teens and pre-teens to nab the title.

She also has amazing eyebrows.

Both things will stand her in good stead for the live shows – should she get through (which she will, right?).

We’ll next see Emily in Nice, when she sings at Cheryl’s ‘house’, in front of her celebrity partner-in-crime Tinie Tempah, 25.

Tinie, himself, was just 15 when he released his first mixtape and just 12 when he conceived his stage name (his real name is Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu) so he knows a thing or two about the pressures of fame at a young age.

Emily joins…

Kerrianne Covell
Stephanie Nala
Lola Saunders
Lauren Platt

…and wild card Chloe Jasmine, deemed ‘a big mistake’ by Mel B.
