Zayn Malik has quit One Direction after suffering from 'stress' and fans are left in pieces
It is a sad, sad day. Zayn Malik has quit One Direction after five incredible years with the band!
Fans around the world are understandbaly left in pieces.’We will miss you, just
remember that we love you so much,’ one wrote, while others included ‘please say it’s not true i
can’t breath please don’t do this i’m so sorry.’
And while some were still supportive, others have been quick to turn their back on the Bradford star causing concerns for Zayn.
One Direction might seem like they have the world at their feet but Zayn became another victim of fame when he quit the band’s current world tour last week, and was flown back home to the UK because of ‘stress’.
Zayn, 22, faced another bout of cheating allegations following pictures of him holding hand with blonde fan, Lauren Richardson, outside a nightclub in Phuket, Thailand. The snaps were posted by a 1D fan, leading many to question how loyal he is to current fiancée, Little Mix‘s Perrie Edwards and brandish him a ‘cheat’ and a ‘womaniser’.
Defending himself, Zayn took to Twitter. ‘I’m 22 years old… I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there’s a lot of jealous f***s in this world I’m sorry for what it looks like,’ he wrote.
day later, it was reported he had been signed off the One Direction
tour because of stress. He pulled out of a planned Coca-Cola commercial
shoot in Hong Kong in order to return to the UK to spend time with his
A source told The Sun: ‘Zayn finds it tougher than
the rest of his band-mates dealing with fame. Having his every movement
scrutinised causes great anxiety and the pictures which surfaced with
the fan yesterday was the final straw. He did nothing wrong but the
amount of criticism he received was simply too much. He needs to get
away. The band’s management accept he needs some time off so he’s been
sent home with their blessing.’
But fans fears for the star are growing as the backlash he’s faces is bigger and more aggressive than ever before.
August 2012 he sensationally quit Twitter leaving some of his 5 million
followers in tears. This came after a video was leaked of him and
fellow bandmate Louis Tomlinson supposedly smoking weed while in South America.
Before he quit the social networking site the then 19-year-old tweeted: ‘The
reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all
the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter 🙂
‘My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account , 🙂 x’
When fans asked how he was doing, Zayn
said: ‘Don’t worry about me, im fine. i just deleted my account because
of all the hate i was getting just by tweeting something simple.
‘And all the rumours of me smoking weed and cheating. i dont need to read any of that negativity.’
Soon after that, when he was asked what he missed about his pre-fame life, Zayn tellingly said: ‘The fact that you could literally go anywhere, say anything and no-one will judge you for it.
if I was seen going to do something stupid like go to a kids’ playhouse
or something to be childish, people would look at me strangely.’
reports dating back to 2012 have claimed the Bradford-raised singer was
‘sick of fame’ and often suffered with crippling homesickness. ‘His
family are so close and he hates that he never gets to see them,’ an
Speaking about leaving Zayn says: ‘My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.’
One Direction say: ‘We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We’re looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour.’
Simon Cowell says: ‘I would like to say thank you to Zayn for everything he has done for One Direction. Since I first met Zayn in 2010, I have grown very, very fond – and immensely proud – of him. I have seen him grow in confidence and I am truly sorry to see him leave. As for One Direction, fans can rest assured that Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis are hugely excited about the future of the band.’
We will miss you, Zayn..
