My weekly feature revealing my hero and villain over the last seven days in showbiz
VILLAIN: TOWIE’S CHARLIE KING
I’m going to preface these comments by saying The Only Way Is Essex star Charlie King seems like a very genuine guy.
I was tough on him throughout his showmance’ with Gemma Collins and he always took the criticism on the chin. But I’m disturbed by his behaviour on the new series of the ITV2 show.
It’s clear to me and the rest of the world that his desire to become one of the lads’ goes against every aspect of his personality.
Listen here, Charlie. It is alright to have a gay best friend even if you are straight. Don’t push Bobby Norris away just because the so-called Essex cool crowd now thinks you’re popular enough to hang out with them.
The only way you’ll succeed on a reality show like this is to stay true to who you were before the show. Right now you are not doing that and you’re letting yourself down.
HERO: SHARON OSBOURNE
takes guts to walk away from a million pound American TV job over a
matter of principle. But that’s exactly what a very ballsy Mrs O did this week.
The former X Factor judge believed her son Jack Osbourne had been dumped from a reality show on US broadcaster NBC because the recent revelation he is battling multiple sclerosis had scared them off hiring him.
While NBC insisted that wasn’t the case – and in fact they had offered him two alternative roles on the show which he declined – Sharon decided this wasn’t a company she wanted to work for regardless.
And, as a result, she dramatically quit her job as a judge on their show America’s Got Talent, which screens here on ITV2, and will leave at the end of the current series.
She’s been the best thing about that show and I think NBC will struggle to replace her.
