JLS are breaking up but I'm not really that bothered to be honest!

JLS announced their split in a world exclusive interview this morning after six years together. The shock news even made the main cover of one of the tabloids.

But as Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes and Jonathan ‘J.B.’ Gill
go their separate ways, is it really front page news worthy of such fanfare?

#JLSsplit was trending on Twitter, but rather than mourn the band, there were a lot of jokes about condoms and the boys taking part in the next series of The Big Reunion.

Don’t get me wrong, I like JLS. I met them when they were on The X Factor back in 2008 and they are really decent guys with heaps of talent.

But the break up taking up the entire front page of a national newspaper? Seriously? They’ve not even had to set up a counseling phone line for fans like Take That did in 1996.

The only person I know who’s even remotely bothered by the split is my friend Claire’s eight-year-old daughter Sophie who was sobbing her eyes out at the news, bless her.

Celebrity fans were a bit more upset. Mark Wright Tweeted: ‘Not gonna lie, my eyes watered a little bit reading that JLS are splitting. Sad article. Congrats to all your success boys.’ Aww!

Apparently demand for tickets to their farewell tour has increased by nearly 300 per cent, proving the fans are beside themselves at the prospect of saying goodbye.

With a couple of Brit awards, number one singles and albums, JLS have a lot to be proud of. And you never know – Take That came back 10 years later so maybe JLS will be back busting some moves in 2023?!
