It can't have been easy for Sinitta to have kept that shtoom for over 20 years

Just when you think nobody on this here planet could do anything more shocking than Miley Cyrus, Sinitta sits down and fesses up about her devastating abortion with Simon Cowell.

Well, I wasn’t expecting that.

But at least now I understand why the 80s pop star has been acting so cray-cray over Simon’s pending fatherhood with Lauren Silverman.

And by cray-cray I mean taking to Twitter to say she wants to appear on The Jeremy Kyle Show and take his famous lie detector test just to set the record straight on her secret abortion.

She tells The Sun: I’m not having a breakdown – I’m tired, frustrated, upset and angry.

People are saying I aborted Simon’s baby in 2009 and that he only found out the other day. That’s all lies – I’d never do that to him.

It was in the 1980s, not 2009, as by then I was already aware that I couldn’t carry a child full term.

It was upsetting. It’s such a heartbreaking thing to go through.’

At first, I thought she was just jealous. Sinitta’s been dating Mr X Factor on and off for the past 20 years – she’s used to being his number one.

Then Lauren comes along and gets knocked up with Simon’s sprog and disrupts the harem pecking order. Tut.

But sadly, as Sinitta emotionally revealed in her interview today, the real reason she acted so erratically was because Simon’s baby joy brought back haunting memories of her own tragic loss.

The 49-year-old – who is mum to two adopted children – continued: I have always admitted I wanted to marry him and have children with him – not just because I love him, but because I thought I would be good for him.

Over the years I did say maybe we should have a baby now because we’re older and things are different – but he did not want one and instead we got puppies.

I think he thought he didn’t want children and he would never want children. And I believed him.

I still wanted them, so that’s why I kept asking. I thought that one day we would have them.’

Obviously, Sinitta is still plagued by what must have been one of the most traumatic things she’s had to experience in her life.

And now she has to watch Simon father another woman’s child – who she said she thought of as one of her best friends. Ouch.

So while she’s come up against quite a bit of criticism for speaking out, I admire her bravery – it can’t have been easy to keep that shtoom for more than two decades alone.
