Michelle Keegan is nominated for Serial Drama Performance at The National Television Awards and she's my winner. Here's why...
It’s the most glamorous night in the TV calendar and I’m so excited for Now columnist Michelle Keegan – she’s been nominated for the super-prestigious award, Serial Drama Performance.
Michelle, who leaves Weatherfield very soon, is up against esteemed Corrie talent, Roy and Hayley Cropper AKA Julie Hesmondhalgh and David Neilson and legendary EastEnders actress, Jessie Wallace. Last year our Michelle was pipped to the post by her Corrie co-star Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, after he wowed in shock domestic violence scenes.
So surely this time it’s Michelle‘s turn to pick up TV’s most glorious golden gong?
Here’s why I’m voting for Michelle to win:
1) Her character Tina‘s getting killed off soon – don’t kick a girl when she’s down!
2) I imagine she’s had to endure months of stubble rash snogging Peter Barlow in her recent storyline. Yep, fuzzy-faced, 48-year-old former alcoholic, four-times married, love rat Peter. GROSS!
3) Michelle‘s so overwhelmed she’s won a Sexiest Female’ award nine – yes nine – times but she’s proved she’s more than just a pretty face.
4) Her boyfriend ran off and disappeared into thin air. No, not Mark Wright, her on-screen fella, Tommy. She’s heartbroken godammit let’s cheer her up!
And if all that’s not reason enough for Michelle Keegan to be your winner, this year’s awards ceremony is extra special for her – it’s the anniversary of the night she introduced her darling dad Mike to Mark. And Mike met Carol and Big Mark Wright for the first time too. Cute! It’s hard to believe a year has flown by and now Michelle and Mark are engaged, but time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it guys?!
So good luck Michelle! Now mag is rooting for you.
