The show is lacking that someone special without James Arthur as a contestant

Last night I chose to not watch Sunday night’s X Factor show, instead I opted for a Hollyoaks omnibus marathon – a whole eight hours of it. Pure joy.

A year ago this scene would never, ever have happened, because James Arthur was a contestant and the show was exceptionally exciting.

I was well and truly gripped.

I am finding it almost impossible to get interested about The X Factor 2013, apart from my fascination with the stunning Tamera Foster.

Even James Arthur said: ‘Tamera has the whole package, she’s a beautiful looking girl – she’s got a great voice. She’s like a better looking Rihanna.’

I couldn’t have put it better myself.

My favourite boy, if had to choose, would be little Nicholas McDonald – but even he is on the verge of boring me already.

Thank God James Arthur was performing his new single, You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You, on the Jonathan Ross show at the weekend. It really helped liven up my Saturday night TV entertainment.

And only he could appear to look bored sat next to Sandra Bullock in the green room, brilliant.

But what a performance, he was a one-off X Factor contestant, true raw talent.

A calibre that is nowhere to be seen this year.

Maybe it’s time to switch off and watch more Hollyoaks instead?
