Spain’s Costa Brava has long been a magnet for sun-seeking celebs, and we can see why.
There’s almost guaranteed sun, undeniably great food (mmmm, jamon!) and plenty of entertainment for all ages. Winner!
But being an A-list destination doesn’t have to mean it’s super-spenny. Oh no!
Need any more reasons why you need to hop on the good-foot and book your tickets? Read on…
1. The beaches are beaut!
From the award-winning beach at Lloret de Mar to the golden sands and children’s play areas at Platja D’Aro, there are plenty of spots on the Costa Brava to make sure your Insta is totally on fleek!
2. The food is oh, so fine!
With some of the finest Mediterranean grub in Europe, you can visit a simple beachside restaurant and get a tasty, caught-the-same-day fish dish, share tapas or enjoy Catalan seafood rice casserole. But if it’s a special spot you’re after, there’s Michelin-Star spots a-plenty too!
3. The waterparks are wicked!
What child/kidult doesn’t love a water park? Luckily the Costa Brava has plenty. Aquadiver in Platja d’Aro and Water World in Lloret de Mar are the most popular. Awash with rapids, wave pools, kamikaze slides and relaxing lagoons, they make for unforgettable days out.
4. You can keep fit and explore
We all know cycling keeps your bikini butt in shape, so why not hire a bike and go exploring throughout the gorgeous Spanish hills? With the Pyrenees on one side and the sparkling Med on the other, the Costa Brava is the perfect spot for a cycle and you can always reward yourself with a sip of Empordà wine when you reach the top!
5. Get your culture fix
Whether you’re on holiday with your kids, your man or your nan, everyone will enjoy walking around the medieval district of Tossa de Mar. Winding alleyways, ancient walls and some delicious cafes for an ice cream pit-stop!
6. There’s water sports whatever the weather!
Name a water sport and chances are you’ll find it along the Costa Brava. Windsurfing, water skiing, kitesurfing and jet skiing, whatever you want to try! Why not take out a catamaran at Lloret de Mar and go search of turquoise-blue bays? Dreamy!
7. Find a sunny spot to take a stroll…
If you want a break from the beach, the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, in Blanes is the perfect escape. A Mediterranean park brimming with more than 4,000 plant species, it’s the perfect place to connect with nature and for the kids to explore. The panoramic views out to sea are pretty spectacular too.
