Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born to mother Penny Adkins and father Mark Evans in Tottenham in 1988.

She was raised by her art student mum in West Norwood after her parents split when she was two.

In 2002, Adele was awarded a place at the BRIT School For Performing Arts, an educational institution in Croydon, South London also attended by Leona Lewis, Jessie J and Amy Winehouse.

During her time as a pupil, Adele developed a real interest in music and started listening to Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald.

Adele recorded a few of her own tracks in 2006 for a school project and a friend uploaded them to social networking site MySpace. Her songs went viral and she signed a deal with XL Records.

19, Adele‘s debut album, achieved huge success after its release in 2008. She bagged her first BRIT a few months later and then made an attempt to break into the American music market.

By 2010, Adele also had a Grammy to her name and in early 2011, she netted her first No 1 Stateside with Rolling In The Deep. Her second album 21 followed soon after and it became the biggest-selling record of the 21st century.

Adele suffered an unfortunate career setback in October 2011 when she was forced to cancel a US tour to have surgery on her throat.

2012 was much brighter for Adele.

She proved she’d fully recovered from her operation by performing at the Grammys. It was a memorable night for Adele as she left the ceremony with all six of the awards that she’d been nominated for.

In June that year, Adele announced that she was expecting a baby with boyfriend Simon Konecki, who she’d met the previous summer. The duo welcomed son Angelo in October.

In October 2015, Adele released the first single, ‘Hello,’ from her third album 25.

25,  is released 20 November 2015.
