Before finding fame, Jesy Nelson was born to mother Janis White and father John Nelson. She has brothers named Joseph and Jonathan plus a sister called Jade.

Janis and John split when Jesy was a youngster. Janis brought Jesy and her siblings up in Romford.

Jesy was educated at Jo Richardson Community School. She also studied at Abbs Cross Academy And Arts College and attended the Sylvia Young and Yvonne Rhodes theatre schools.

In 2011, Jesy auditioned for The X Factor. She treated Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow to a rendition of Bust Your Windows by Jazmine Sullivan.

Jesy Nelson
made it to bootcamp but was told that she wouldn’t progress any further as a solo contestant.

She was given another shot at fame when the judges decided put her in a group called Rhythmix with Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

The band – who later changed their name to Little Mix at the request of a charity with the moniker Rhythmix – were mentored by Tulisa and proved to be very popular with the public.

Little Mix became the first ever band to win The X Factor in the show’s 8-year history. Shortly after their victory, the girls’ cover of Damien Rice’s Cannonball topped the charts.

They have since bagged a number of other Top 10 singles, toured the UK and visited countries including Japan and Australia.

Outside of the music scene, Jesy Nelson and her Little Mix bandmates have released their own make-up line with Collection which includes lipsticks and nail varnishes.

Jesy started a relationship with hunky Diversity star Jordan Banjo in 2011. In June 2014 it was reported that the couple had decided to end their romance.
