Kaley Cuoco was born to realtor Gary and homemaker Layne Ann in 1985.

She has a younger sister named Briana, who appeared on the US version of The Voice in 2013.

Kaley started playing tennis aged three and ended up being a regionally-ranked amateur before quitting to focus on acting at 16.

After being home-schooled on set, Kaley received her high school diploma that year.

The star’s first on-screen performance came when she was six. She went on to appear on television shows such as My So-Called Life and Ellen as a youngster.

On film, her childhood credits included Quicksand: No Escape, Growing Up Brady and Virtuosity.

Kaley Cuoco got her big break when she was cast alongside John Ritter and Katey Sagal in sitcom 8 Simple Rules in 2002. She played dim-witted teen Bridget Hennessy.

The show lasted for three seasons and Kaley said working with John – who sadly passed away after falling ill during rehearsals in 2003 – ‘showed her that she loved sitcoms’.

Away from 8 Simple Rules, Kaley starred in movies and programmes including Charmed, 10.5, Crimes Of Fashion and The Hollow.

Kaley really made a name for herself in 2007 when she landed the role of waitress Penny in CBS’s science-themed sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

After seven series in 2014, she and her main co-stars were rumoured to have negotiated a salary of $1 million per episode.

However, she continued to take roles in movies such as The Wedding Ringer and Burning Bodhi.

In her personal life, Kaley Cuoco has spoken about her love for dogs and horse riding.

She secretly dated her Big Bang Theory co-star Johnny Galecki for around two years before they split in 2009.

Kaley got engaged to addiction specialist Josh Resnik in October 2011 but they’d broken up by March 2012. She was later linked to actor Henry Cavill.

On New Year’s Eve 2013, Kaley wed tennis player Ryan Sweeting after a whirlwind six-month romance.
