Nicole Scherzinger was born in Hawaii to dad Alfonso Valiente and mum Rosemary Elikolani in 1978. Her father is of Filipino descent and her mother has a Hawaiian and Russian background.

When she was still a baby her parents separated. At the age of 6 Nicole moved to Louisville, Kentucky with her mum, sister Keala and stepfather Gary Scherzinger, who adopted her.

During her school days Nicole started performing. She went on to study musical theatre at Wright State University before leaving to sing backing vocals for rock group Days Of The New.

In 2001 Nicole Scherzinger got a taste of fame when she won a place in girl group Eden’s Crush on US TV series Popstars. Their debut single fared well but they soon disbanded.

As an aspiring solo artist, Nicole was offered a place in the Black Eyed Peas but turned it down. She eventually joined The Pussycat Dolls in 2003.

Their catchy track Don’t Cha topped the charts in several countries and they had a succession of hit singles including Stickwitu, Buttons and When I Grow Up. They released two successful albums.

After the group parted ways in 2010, Nicole focused on her solo career. She also won US TV show Dancing With The Stars with pro dancer Derek Hough.

Her first album Killer Love was released in 2011. In the same year Nicole became a judge on the US X Factor before joining the UK version in 2012.

Nicole Scherzinger revealed in 2012 that she had battled bulimia for 8 years but has since recovered.

The multitalented star has turned her hand to acting during her career. She appeared in 2012 film Men In Black 3 and has also had cameos in TV shows such as How I Met Your Mother.

Music is Nicole’s first love though. After two years as an X Factor judge, Nicole didn’t return for the 2014 series and focused on making new tunes. She released hit single Your Love and announced a second album called Big Fat Lie.

The singer started dating British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton since 2008. Despite breaking up several times, the pair looked seriously smitten as they enjoyed a romantic gondola ride in Venice in June 2014.
