The ninth series of The Big Bang Theory returns and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting shares a photo from Penny and Leonard's long-awaited wedding

Big Band Theory fans. It’s finally happened. It’s been a long time coming, but the show’s dream couple Penny and Leonard are FINALLY getting married!

Pop open the champagne, dig out your hat, and throw your hands up in the air.

And if you just can’t wait to see how it all happens on the show, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting who plays Penny, shared a little sneak-peek of the big day on her seconds Instagram account, @normancook.

The pic sees Kaley in a not-so-traditional pink wedding dress, while standing opposite groom-to-be Leonard, played by Johnny Galecki.

Haley seems just as excited as the rest of us, as she captioned the post saying: ‘We’re back baby!!!’

‘I mean it when I say, I’ve waited for this moment since the pilot nine years in the making!!’

Stop it Kaley – our feels can’t take it!

But fans may not have been expecting how the wedding ACTUALLY ended.

Although the pair said their vows and said ‘I do’, they didn’t actually make it to thier wedding night, as Penny found out that Leonard actually kissed another girl two years ago, while he was on a North Sea expedition. Awkward.

They end up going home the next day, to spend the night apart from one another. Not ideal really is it?

Kaley and Johnny’s on-screen relationship actually translated off-screen as well, as the pair dated in real for two years until they broke up in December 2009. Since then, they’ve both moved on, with Kaley marrying Ryan Sweeting in 2013. And the best bit? They’re still best buds!

‘We ended it five years ago and we have actually both moved on. Johnny is actually one of my best friends.’

See – it all worked out in the end! We do love a happy ending.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, she shared: ‘it is a situation that ended well I understand that sometimes it doesn’t.’

‘Ryan loves him, Johnny loves him. He is one of my best friends.’

We can’t wait to see the big day happen on our screens! We’ve got the tissues ready already – we feel some tears may be on the cards….
