The X Factor's creative director Brian Friedman says judges are just playing up for TV

Brian Friedman has compared The X Factor to a pantomime.

The judges constantly bicker and argue about contestants during the live shows, but the show’s creative director says the panel like to play up for the TV cameras.

‘Everyone is getting on just fine,’ says Brian, 33.

‘Don’t forget it’s all a pantomime. People will always stir things up. On this show, if you want to slate someone then do it on camera or not at all.’

Brian says Louis Walsh, 58, has become like a panto villain following his rows with Cheryl Cole, 27.

‘The outbursts are great,’ he tells the Sunday Mirror.

‘I love the fact that Louis is stirring things up so much this year.’
