The Strictly Come Dancing presenter honoured after 70 years in showbiz

Bruce Forsyth has finally been honoured by the Queen for his lengthy career as an entertainer – shocking Her Royal Highness at the same time.

The 85-year-old monarch was astounded to hear that Brucie has been in showbiz for 70 years.

The Queen told me: “Thank you for entertaining the country for so long.” I told her that I will have been in the business for 70 years next year,’ Bruce, 83, tells the Daily Mail.

She looked at me in astonishment and said: “Seventy?! Goodness, how old were you when you started?”

“I was 14, M’am, I told her. Been in the business since the war.” I think she was rather taken aback to be honest.’

The Queen is a fan of Strictly Come Dancing and Bruce reckons the secret of his success has been his appeal to all ages.

Strictly caters for the young right through to the very old,’ he tells the Daily Mirror.

It still gives me a buzz and getting this knighthood is an even bigger buzz.’

It’s nice to see this, to see this nice!
