Top line-up and later slot in the tv schedule are the reasons

Strictly Come Dancing has been trouncing The X Factor in ratings this year – and someone with a bit of inside knowledge knows why.

Veteran presenter Bruce Forsyth, 84, says the BBC show has triumphed due to a mixture of its stellar line-up and new slot.

Every year, both Saturday night shows fine-tune their formats and this year, Strictly has moved to the slightly later time of 6.30pm.

‘You get that extra half hour when people can get back after their shopping, work, after the football, and get home,’ Brucie tells the Daily Mirror.

‘We have got so many good ones so it is very competitive. When we get down to the last six the public will be really scratching their heads saying, “Who’s the best?”‘
