We take a look at who's tipped to star on this years' Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing professionals 2015

It’s almost time for 2015 winner Jay McGuinness to let go of his treasured Mirrorball trophy – it’s up for grabs again as the contestants for 2016 Strictly Come Dancing have been officially chosen.

Craig Revel-Horwood revealed last week (Friday, July 8) that the line up had been decided, and although bosses of the BBC One show have kept them under lock and key, we’ve pulled together the Top 15 strongest celebrity contenders rumoured to have been signed up for the show…

  1. Daisy Lowe – The 26-year-old British model is the latest celeb said to have signed up for the reality dance show.  Reports suggest Daisy has already started practising her moves – having previously shown off her sexy steps on a fashion shoot. It’s claimed she will attract a younger audience to the show with her young social circles which includes numerous celeb pals such as Nick Grimshaw, Cara Delevingne and Alexa Chung.

2. Will Young – Former Pop Idol winner Will, 37, is thought to have impressed show bosses with his fancy footwork when he performed his single ‘Joy’ on the show last year. The singer paired up with one of his dancers for a twirl or two on the dancefloor, prompting producers to approach him for this years contest.

3. Louise Redknapp – Wife to footballer Jamie Redknapp and former singer in 90s girlband Eternal and then as a solo artist, Louise, 41, is said to be going back to her performing roots. After being a judge on BBC dance show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ the mum-of-two is rumoured to be stepping into the spotlight as a contestant on Strictly. We’re looking forward to a sultry showcase like Louise did in the video for ‘Stuck in the Middle With You’…

4. Judge Rinder – Real name Robert Rinder – This TV lawyer is reportedly hanging up his robe and switching the courtroom for the ballroom to take on the dance challenge. He’s been dubbed ‘entertaining’ and has some theatrical training – having studied theatrical drama alongside Sherlock star and actor Bennedict Cumberbatch. And we spotted him doing this amazing ballroom routine…

5. Cheryl Baker – The former Bucks Fizz star is no stranger to tough competitions – she won Eurovision with the band in 1981 – and if she does end up on the final official line-up for Strictly, there has got to be an outfit that includes the velcro ripping skirt that the 62-year-old is renowned for performing in during that winning hit ‘Making Your Mind Up’.

6. Angellica Bell – She started out her television career as presenter of children’s television on CBBC and has since presented the likes of The One Show, where she showed she had more than just a competitive streak waiting to burst out… And speaking of number one, Angellica, 40, is rumoured to have been the first celeb to sign up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

7. Ryan Thomas – The hunky 32-year-old quit the cobbles of Coronation Street after 16 years playing Jason Grimshaw, to pursue other things. And rumour has it, aside from helping a mate with his new clothing brand in Hollywood, he’s set to twinkle his toes from tinseltown to and into the Strictly studio. He’s certainly got some hip-shaking moves, see if you can spot him in this old video we’ve dug out…

8. Charlotte Crosby – Newcastle’s finest party girl turned fitness guru announced she was quitting Geordie Shore earlier this year and is said to have set her sights on scooping the Mirrorball trophy after getting the bug for winning when she walked away as winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2013. The 26-year-old beauty is single and if the rumours are true, she’s sure to put the sexy back in to Strictly’s Salsa.

9. Michaela Strachan – She’s used to having creepy crawlies climb all over her as presenter of The Really Wild children’s nature show, so she’s expected to be fearless when it comes to the Foxtrot. The 50-year-old TV presenter has briefly spoken of her dance-past…oh and if you’re old enough to remember her pop career, check out her moves in this video… so if she does make it into the final line-up she’s likely to be a dark horse.

10. Paul Burrell – The former butler to the late Princess Diana has wanted to star on Strictly for a while now, and he’s one contender who is reportedly signed up to star on this year’s show. And he’s said to have made it through the shortlist. He previously hinted at a tv comeback saying: “You’ll be seeing a whole lot more of me this year”…

11. Michelle Dockery – Fans of Downton Abbey will be delighted if its star Michelle – who played Lady Mary Crawley in the period drama until it ended following a successful six series run – dances her way back onto primetime TV. She’s a self-confessed dancer so she should have no problem hitting high scores from the judges but it looks like for now her lips are sealed…

12. Debbie McGee – Famous for being the glamorous assistant to her late husband and magician Paul Daniels, Debbie, 57, is rumoured to be putting herself centre stage and her ballet skills to good use on this year’s dance show.  She said she’d like to compete on the show as tribute to her husband Paul. Wonder if she will incorporate this trampoline into her routine…

13. Emma Willis – It’s been a busy year for Emma, 40, who managed to squeeze in giving birth to her third child, daughter Trixie Grace, in the gap between presenting The Voice and Celebrity Big Brother (CBB). And although it might be a juggling act, mixing dance rehearsals with presenting CBB when it returns later this summer, it’s not like Emma hasn’t managed to multi-task before. She’s a strong rumoured contestant who is likely to want to get back to her post-baby body and especially since she’s admitted Strictly is something she’d like to have a go at, so will she get the call?…

14. Laura Whitmore – The Irish TV presenter has a history of hanging out with plenty of A-listers from Leonardo Di Caprio to Drew Barrymore. She’s been spotted boogying with her pals Millie Mackintosh and Zara Martin at Coachella earlier this year, and she quit the Jungle spin-off show ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here Now!’, so with a clear diary, there’s plenty of time for cha-cha-cha…

15. Ruth Langsford – The loveable This Morning and Loose Women host is a huge fan of the show – sources revealed earlier this year that she was trying to persuade husband Eamonn Holmes to sign up for the show. But with having his hip-op just at the start of the year, we could see Ruth step into his shoes for the show…and she’s certainly had the hip-hop practise, busting some moves to Drake’s hit Hotline Bling…

Whilst we eagerly await the final list, lets remind you of who’s on the final list of professional dancers;

There are three new dancers confirmed for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year; Katya Jones, Oksana Platero and Gorka Marquez.

Joining them is returning professionals Pasha Kovalevsky, Aljaz Skorjanec, Giovanni Pernice, Natalie Lowe, Joanne Clifton, Janette Manrara, Oti Mabuse, Anton du Beke, Brendan Cole and Kevin and Karen Clifton.

Aliona Vilani has also made a shock return to the show this year as a behind-the-scenes choreographer, after the 32-year-old beauty previously quit the programme after taking home the Mirrorball Trophy with Jay McGuiness in 2015.
