Singer Christina Aguilera defends her X Factor performance following Ofcom complaints

Christina Aguilera has defended her performance on The X Factor on Saturday night.

Over 1,000 viewers complained to Ofcom and ITV after the singer took to the stage for a saucy version of Express, a song from her new movie, Burlesque.

‘I don’t think there is such a thing as too raunchy when it comes to the art form of burlesque,’ says Christina, 29.

‘It’s very empowering to women to feel confident in their own skin and in their bodies and this represents that. Everyone in the spotlight is judged and there are many opinions out there, but I stick true to what I believe in.’

Viewers were also upset when Rihanna, 22, stripped down to a skimpy bikini-style outfit and made a series of suggestive dance moves during her performance of What’s My Name?
