Lilly's scenes will be screened in six weeks
The nine-year-old was desperate for a role after visiting the show’s set studios with Alex, 30, and sister Lexie, seven – so her parents sorted it out for her.
‘They are great parents and started making enquiries to see if there was any way to get her on as an extra,’ a source tells The Sun.
‘As Lilly is a minor they had to get it all officially sorted out through their local authority.
‘Then they spoke to Corrie and managed to get her a part in Tuesday’s filming. It’s only a little non-speaking role but the whole Gerrard family are unbelievably excited.’
Alex – who’s also mum to one-year-old Lourdes with Steven – sent Lilly a sweet message before she shot her scenes, which will be screened in around six weeks.
‘Good look to my little girl Lilly at coronation street today hope it goes well !!! #soexciting #littleactressinthemaking,’ Tweeted Alex.
She later told one of her followers how much Lilly had enjoyed being in front of the camera.
‘she done well thanks she loved it x,’ wrote Alex.
