The actor jumps into some bins in an unglamorous scene

Benedict Cumberbatch has been snapped getting mucky while filming scenes for the new series of Sherlock.

The actor, 37, jumped into some bins in an energetic sequence shot on the show’s set in Cardiff earlier this week.

Benedict – who plays the lead role in the BBC show – was looking pretty unkempt during shooting, sporting jogging bottoms, a baggy hooded top and yellow trainers.

His hair appeared greasy and unbrushed while he’d grown some untidy stubble on his chin.

The hot star’s scruffy clobber was very different from Sherlock‘s usual style of smart coats, shirts and scarves and is sure to leave fans wondering what’s happened to the character.

Benedict was joined by his co-star Martin Freeman for the shoot, who was dressed in much more normal attire for his alter ego Dr John Watson.

Martin, 41, wore a pair of jeans with a blue shirt and a fashionable black jacket.
