The popular pair will reprise their roles

David Tennant and Billie Piper will return to Doctor Who for the 50th anniversary special later this year.

The pair were last seen playing the 10th version of the Time Lord and his companion Rose Tyler in the 2010 series finale The End Of Time.

But David, 41, and Billie, 30, will join current Doctor Matt Smith and his assistant Clara Oswald – played by Jenna-Louise Coleman – to celebrate the BBC show’s milestone birthday.

Veteran actor John Hurt will also appear in the highly-anticipated programme, which is due to air on 23 November.

The episode has been written by Steven Moffat and will be shot in 3D.

Cast members got together for a read-through yesterday evening and it seems Matt, 30, is very excited to be a part of the one-off show.

‘I read it and clapped at the end,’ Matt tells the Sunday Mirror.

‘It’s epic, it’s vast.’
