Paul Bhattacharjee passes away aged 53

Former EastEnders star Paul Bhattacharjee has been found dead.

The actor, 53, went missing last Wednesday and a body matching his description was found near cliffs at Splash Point in Seaford, East Sussex two days later.

The body has now been formally identified as being Paul‘s and his next of kin has been informed.

Paul was last seen heading towards a Tube station after leaving rehearsals at London’s Royal Court Theatre, where he was set to star in play Talk Show.

Friends said that he’d seemed in a good mood and he’d sent a text message to his girlfriend later that evening.

Paul played Masood Ahmed‘s brother Inzamam in EastEnders on-off from 2008-2010.

He also starred in films including Casino Royale, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Dirty Pretty Things.

After his disappearance – which was described by his son as being ‘completely out of character’ – celebrities including Stephen Fry used Twitter to appeal for information on his whereabouts.
