Paul isn't worried about being labelled Mr Nasty
The Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood has denied that he’s being too harsh on the show’s contestants.
After the 3rd series of the BBC2 cooking contest began two weeks ago, viewers took to Twitter to complain that Paul, 46, had become crueller than he has been in previous years.
‘Has Paul Hollywood always been this mean? He’s making me nervous,’ Tweeted one user.
Another wrote: ‘Don’t want increasing harshness, give him a poke.’
Some of the show’s hopefuls also expressed their worries about Paul‘s attitude, with evicted contestant Peter telling the Radio Times: ‘I think he sometimes forgets that this is an amateur baking competition. Occasionally I felt he went a little bit over the top.’
But Paul – who was once the head baker at top London hotel The Dorchester – says the claims are ridiculous and that he wouldn’t be a good judge if he didn’t speak his mind.
‘it’s my job!’ he Tweets.
‘I’ll carry on doing what I do.’
