The pair row on the social networking site

The X Factor contestant James Arthur has got himself into a Twitter spat with controversial comedian Frankie Boyle.

The argument began when Frankie, 40, Tweeted: ‘James McArthur is like a cross between a tramp and a duckling #xfactor’ during last weekend’s semi-final.

James, 24, replied: ‘Poor old man making yet more sh*t jokes about Xfactor because he knows that’s the only way he can get attention any more #prat.’

Frankie then retaliated with: ‘@JamesArthur23 I think if I wanted attention I’d sing covers on a talent show, inked up like a schooldesk in a remedial class.’

But James hit back: ‘@frankieboyle what you mean as apposed to telling desperately bad jokes? Perhaps you’d have gained more respect going my route.’

Frankie later mocked James‘s grammar skills and said he ‘hoped he didn’t spell his own tattoos’ before James told the Scottish comic that he needed a ‘reality check’.

But not everyone has been criticising James, who’ll go up against Christopher Maloney and Jahmene Douglas in The X Factor final this weekend.

The Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack has admitted that she has a little crush on the singer.

‘He has this way of making you touch your hair and go all girly when he gives you compliments. He’s very charming,’ Caroline, 33, told This Morning.

‘And he’s like that with a lot of girls. I don’t think it’s just me, because he’s very good.’
