Russell and Jonathan don't want to get in trouble again
Insiders say large parts of the recorded interview – which will be broadcast on Saturday – will be edited out because Russell couldn’t help joking about the 2008 Andrew Sachs phone message scandal that ended with Jonathan‘s suspension and his own sacking from the BBC.
The duo made prank calls to Fawlty Towers star
Andrew, with Jonathan leaving a message for the veteran actor telling him Russell had had sex with his
granddaughter Georgina Baillie.
‘I remember you said you didn’t give a monkey’s,’ Russell quipped.
‘You said you’d do it again.’
Russell, 37, claims he won’t be inviting 52-year-old chat show host Jonathan to appear at an upcoming Comic Relief benefit concert at Wembley Arena on 6 March because he ‘can’t be trusted’.
‘What are you going to do? Swagger around the stage with your kn*b out and claim to have had it off with everyone’s granddaughters?’ he challenged with a grin.
Jonathan Ross said on Wednesday: ‘We both regret the
furore we both caused and the hurt to Mr Sachs and his family.’
