Viewers left confused by continuity error

BBC1 show MasterChef has come under fire after eagle-eyed viewers spotted a serious continuity error.

Contestant Tom Rennolds was shown dishing up a collapsed soufflé to judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace, but in later scenes the pair tucked into a perfect-looking meal.

Fans of the show have been left wondering whether Tom, 26, had created several soufflés or if the sequence had been entirely fabricated – but a MasterChef spokeswoman insists that it was all down to editing.

‘We often cut back to the shot of the food as it was when first plated up as a reminder of how the dish looked before tasting,’ says a spokeswoman.

John Torode, 46, chose to ignore the critics when he took to his Twitter page after last night’s show.

‘Hello world .. Thanks for all the great tweets about MasterChef last night. It is only going to get better! #MasterChef,’ he Tweets.
