Young actress's life ends in gruesome way
Police have confirmed that the female torso found in Regent’s Canal, Hackney, on Tuesday is actress Gemma McCluskie, 29.
Gemma took the role of Kerry Skinner in BBC soap EastEnders in 2001 and attended the opening of the Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel on Thursday before it’s suspected she was murdered.
‘We urge anyone with any significant information about this case to contact us as soon as possible,’ says Detective Superintendent Fiona Mallon.
‘In particular we would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around her home address in Pelter Street in Bethnal Green.’
EastEnders co-star Dean Gaffney, who played Kerry Skinner’s fiancé, is devastated by the news.
‘There was a definite connection between us,’ he says.
Gemma‘s brother Tony, 35, who she shared a flat with, is believed to have been arrested on Wednesday and held for questioning.
