The dad-to-be thinks Cheryl is a great judge

Simon Cowell knows who he’d like to see back on The X Factor panel this year.

The music mogul, 54 – who’s confirmed his return to the show – won’t reveal who’s joining him just yet but isn’t afraid to admit that he thinks Cheryl Cole would be brilliant.

‘I can’t say at the moment but I’d love Cheryl to come back,’ says Simon.

‘Apart from the fact she’s a star, she really is a good judge. She’s on it and she’s really good. So we’ll have to wait and see.’

Cheryl, 30, appeared on The X Factor for three series before quitting in 2010 and mentored both Joe McElderry and Alexandra Burke to win.

Despite having a baby boy on the way with American socialite Lauren Silverman, Simon is sure he’ll be able to work just as hard on this year’s series as past ones.

‘It’s not going to change too much. I got the dogs in first and got used to them but Lauren knows what my work is and everything else and she’s cool with that,’ says Simon.

‘My dogs were definitely the test run. They’re really naughty. I’ve got a feeling he’s going to be really bad.’
