Actress enjoys playing Carla Barlow

Alison King admits she does most of her socialising on the set of Coronation Street.

The actress has been very busy on the soap lately  – her character Carla Barlow is at the centre of a dramatic storyline involving her husband Peter‘s affair with Tina McIntyre, played by Michelle Keegan, who is murdered by a mystery killer.

But Alison is quite happy spending time at work as she gets on really well with her castmates.

Kym [Marsh] and I have known each other a long time and we love working together,’ says Alison, 41.

I am good friends with a lot of the people I work with and I am going to miss Chris [Gascoyne, who plays Peter] and Michelle when they leave. We are enjoying working on this storyline.

I am a mum and don’t socialise at parties or events a lot, but I am friends with other members of the cast who have children of a similar age, like Samia Ghadie and Ryan Thomas.’

Whilst Alison loves being at home with 5-year-old daughter Daisy, Carla is the complete opposite and Alison enjoys getting to be someone so different to herself.

I love Carla, but I am not at all like her,’ the mum-of-one tells Saturday Magazine.

She is all about killer heels and attitude and taking no prisoners. I am a mum who likes wearing Ugg boots, dungarees and no make-up.

But that is why I love playing Carla. It is a licence to be someone you are not, to do things you wouldn’t do.’
