Former Busted star 'thrilled' to join the soap

Matt Willis has been pictured making his first appearance in EastEnders.

The singer – who came to fame in Busted – makes his debut as Stacey Branning’s new boyfriend Luke Riley later this month.

Stills from the scenes show Matt, 30, talking to Jessie Wallace‘s character Kat Slater, who has come looking for her cousin.

Stacey, played by Lacey Turner, fled Albert Square in 2010 after being exposed as a murderer but she’s now making a very explosive comeback, something that Matt’s proud to be involved in.

‘I’m so thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show,’ he says in a statement to Mail Online.

‘I grew up watching EastEnders, so this is really exciting for me.’

It’s not Matt’s first acting role as he’s also currently starring in the new series of Birds Of A Feather as Garth Stubbs.

But his stint in EastEnders won’t be for long – in the summer Matt will be heading on tour with supergroup McBusted.
